The Saskatoon Reggae Festival Inc. is a non-profit organization aimed at
showcasing local, national and international artists and performers.

This organization runs the present Saskatoon Reggae and World Music
Festival, which was originally called Saskatoon Reggae Festival. The
Festival name was change in order to welcome all the various cultural
expressions.
The festival originated at the Odeon Events
Centre back in 2005 when Oral Fuentes and his band used to host the
Caribbean and Latin parties, with local DJ Juan Valdez. From then the
event became Saskatoon ReggaeFest and then grew into the present
registered non-profit.
The festival is usually for 3 days and consist of music,
workshops and dance performances at various venues around Saskatoon,
and ends up at one of the Parks for the Main Concert Event. This year
the Event moved from the Rotary Park to the Friendship Park, and hope to
make this Park its home. Although the festival is young, the
festival its already attracting visitors from BC, Alberta, Manitoba and
from all over Saskatchewan. "People are already planning the Reggae and
World Music Festival as part of their summer plans" says Oral the festival
director. " ......and we are just still in the baby
stages of growth."
Past performers included Jason Wilson and Tabarruk, Mickey
Dangerous, Culture Brown, Daddy Roy, Natural Mistik, Paul Benjamin,
Joseph Ashong, Coffieman,
Oral Fuentes, Orlando Martinez, defSol, Dj
Juan Valdez, Dj Mike, La Carisma, Kahmaria, Sephoria, Grupo Maya, Ritmo
Latino, and Grupo Caracol.
This years festival is just for 2 days. Thursday August 11 and the main event on Saturday August 13th. Performers consist of Jah Cutta,Lyndon John X,Oral Fuentes,Sabor Salsa,
Kari Alba,Veronique Poulin,Sephoria, def Sol Productions, Ritmo Latino,Saskatoon Salsa,
Rational,Roberto
Andres, Parab Poet, DJ Anchor (Wired 96.3), Scott Turner, DJ Heywood
and DJ Juan Valdez.
